Therapy for Anxiety, Stress & Confidence.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons.

You may be anxious, stretched thin, or living with the accumulated effects of chronic stress. It might be self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, burnout, or a persistent sense of being stuck in something you cannot quite name.

These can look very different from the outside, and they often have more in common than they appear to. Anxiety and chronic stress gradually shape how we think, how we feel, and how we relate to ourselves and to other people. We overthink. We second-guess decisions we are perfectly capable of making. We avoid what feels risky, pull back from people, and repeat patterns that once protected us and now cost more than they return.

Therapy is about more than reducing symptoms. It is about understanding those patterns well enough that they lose their hold.

We explore them together, with curiosity rather than judgment. Over time, most people find the pressure has less say in how they respond, and that there is more room to move than there was.

How I Work

My practice is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and is attachment-based and emotion-centred. My first degree was a double major in physiology and psychology, and that background continues to inform my understanding of stress. My thinking is also shaped by systems thinking, which means I am interested in what a person has been adapting to, not only what they are doing now.

I have completed Level 1 EMDR training and am working toward accreditation. Where a distressing or unresolved experience is part of the picture, I draw on it within that broader frame.

Rather than working toward short-term fixes, we look at the underlying experiences and adaptations: how you learned to cope, what that has cost, and what might now be possible. The aim is not to eliminate anxiety, but to:

  • Leave you less constrained by chronic stress and fear

  • Strengthen your adaptive flexibility: your capacity to trust yourself and stay clear under pressure, rather than being organised by it

  • Restore your connection to yourself, to the people who matter, and to what you actually want your life to be about

Therapy May Help If You:

  • Feel overwhelmed by more than you can name, even when nothing is technically wrong

  • Feel stuck despite knowing perfectly well, intellectually, what you ought to do

  • Overthink, second-guess yourself, or hold standards you would never impose on anyone else

  • Feel emotionally depleted, stretched thin, or close to burnout

  • Notice relationship patterns that repeat and leave you drained

  • Find it hard to trust your own judgment under pressure

  • Want to move through a transition with more steadiness than you managed the last one

What to expect

The first session is a conversation. You tell me what has brought you here, I ask questions, and we get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit. Nothing is committed to beyond that session.

Sessions run for 55 minutes, usually weekly at first. Some people work with me for a few months around something specific, others for longer. We decide that together and revisit it as we go.

Online and in person. I see people in person in Constantia, Cape Town, and online across South Africa and internationally.

Areas of Focus

Starting therapy is a significant decision, and finding the right person matters more than almost any other factor. If you would like to see whether we might work well together, get in touch and we can arrange a short introductory conversation. You are welcome to ask whatever you need to.
